Jim Rohn – Life Lessons from the Great Motivational Speaker
“Formal education will give you a livelihood; Self-education will make you lucky.” — Jim Rohney
Formal education is standard, structured and systematic education. This is what you learn in schools and colleges. There is nothing wrong with formal education, but it is designed to get you a job… or earn you a living… It is not designed to make you financially independent or mentally strong. It is designed to keep you part of the system.
There are limits to how far you can go with formal education. It is for those who want limited exposure, not much responsibility.
Self-education knows no bounds and that’s why it has the potential to make you a fortune.
Self-education can not only make you a fortune, it can also fulfill you – as it gives you the option to educate yourself on things that will enhance your quality of life. Think of all the greatest entrepreneurs of today, and in history… these are all self-educated people.
They are all formally educated too… But self-education never ends for all successful people, not after school, nor after success or failure. Life is classroom and the only goal is to learn and grow every day.
“The key value in life is not what you get. The key value in life is what you become.” — Jim Rohney
“The main question to ask is not ‘what am I getting into here’ the main question is ‘what am I becoming here'” – Jim Rohn
It’s never the material success that gives us the most value – it’s the self-pride that comes when you expand yourself.
It’s not the money, or the house that will bring you happiness… Proud to know you’ve earned the money and the house… That’s where the value is… and without it you won’t get the money or the house . You won’t get anything else until you become more.
“If you don’t plan your life yourself, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” — Jim Rohney
If you are waiting for others to give you success… you will be waiting with outstretched hands till the day you die.
If you want anything in life, the responsibility falls on only one person… and that person is you. Nobody owes you anything. If you want it – you have to plan for it. If you want it – you have to sacrifice for it. If you want it – you have to work for it.
Don’t wait for someone to give you a handout, or a magic map, to get the life you want… you have to educate and execute your life plan to live the life you want to live.
“You can’t change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight.” — Jim Rohney
Nothing worthwhile happens overnight. Overnight success is a myth… but one thing that can change immediately is your attitude. You can decide in an instant that your life will change — and if you keep that promise to yourself — this may be the moment when everything changes. You may decide that is enough. You can decide no more. You can decide from this moment… it only takes a moment.
“If you’re not willing to risk the unusual, you have to settle for the ordinary.” — Jim Rohney
Life is a risk. Turning down a secure job to pursue your dreams is a risk. The risk is failure. The risk is embarrassment. The risk is being suffered. But perhaps a bigger risk is taking that option one that will almost certainly be regretted down the track.
Regret is almost guaranteed when you make an easy choice that is far below your potential or the quality of life you’ve dreamed of for yourself. I think it’s pretty clear that every great success story on this earth was a great risk taker. Great rewards can only come after great risks. You can’t win the raffle until you have a ticket… and the ticket to the game of success is risk – it’s putting yourself out there… putting your fears and reputation on the line – knowing that failure can and will happen is likely brave enough to try either way.
“If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.” — Jim Rohney
Many people complain about their situation when they have the power to change it. Change is going to be spontaneous or not – if you have the power to change and you want to change – change. Perhaps the greatest destruction of the human soul occurs when we go against our own intuition. What’s worse is when we go against our intuition… then complain and blame others for our situation.
If you want to change… Change. Take responsibility for where you are and believe that you have the ability to learn and grow enough to get where you want to go.
“Either you drive the day or the day drives you.” — Jim Rohney
“Don’t say, ‘If I could, I would.’ Say, ‘If I can, I will.'” – Jim Rohn
When it comes to how we live our lives … We all have two choices … We can choose to control the day … Go ahead and believe that we can change our reality. .. or … we may be at the mercy of circumstances … believing that we can only respond to reality. I challenge you to find any great human beings who allowed LIFE to determine their reality.
Great people…Happy people…Successful people take the day into their own hands… They take control of every moment and try to create a better next moment in everything they do. Mindset is everything. You really decide how reality is given to you. Do you create your own reality? Or do you wait for life or circumstances to tell you what your day will be like?
“We all have to suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or despair.” — Jim Rohney
“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced daily.” — Jim Rohney
“Discipline is the bridge between goal and achievement.” — Jim Rohney
“For every disciplined effort there is a multiple reward.” — Jim Rohney
There is probably no greater word than this when it comes to achievement, growth, success and even happiness.
Discipline is everything and discipline has many rewards. The people who have to follow the discipline, consistently they are the ones who will succeed in the end. Discipline to say no when needed. The discipline to say yes when you don’t want to. hard working discipline. The discipline to be consistent in all areas of your life. It is not a long, important task… It is the small, but consistent daily discipline that is compounded over the years that will lead to your greatest success.
“Success is neither magical nor mystical. Success is the natural result of consistently applying basic fundamentals.” — Jim Rohney
“You don’t get paid for the hour. You pay for the value you bring in by the hour.” — Jim Rohney
Those who are paid the most are paid the most because they bring the most value to their fellow human beings. There’s nothing magical or mysterious about success… it’s simple, interesting, and unexpected… and that’s why most people give up. It is consistency that brings success… not magic. There is no secret. Just keep showing up, every day – improving, growing and adding value, and eventually you’ll be rewarded.
“I wish it was easy, I wish you were better.” — Jim Rohney
Most people want life to be easy – but life is easy only when you motivate yourself to be better. Don’t even wish you were better – be ready to work for your better. Be ready to earn your best.
“Happiness is not something you put off for the future; It’s something you design for the present.” — Jim Rohney
And now we come to the most important part… Happiness… Fulfillment… Emotional stability. Happiness, Jim Rohn Says You Don’t Postpone For The Future… You Don’t Put It Off For “One Day”… When I Get That Car, Or When I’m A Millionaire… Or Billionaire …or attract that one person into my life… Happiness is something you design for… Something you decide for the present… For now.
You decide to be happy every day… by the choices you make every day. You decide what kind of day you allot each morning. Are you frantically running out the door, stressed and agitated – or are you taking the time to do gratitude, meditation, learning – things that make you feel good – things that keep your mind positive.
A day will never come if your primary goals are materialistic – because one day always turns into more and never enough.
Decide that you have enough… Live and realize that you have more than enough and that life will always give you more. Decide that the primary importance of your life isn’t material things… but emotions – how you feel should always be the most important – because that’s why people pursue material things – they think they can keep them Will feel better… Just decide to feel better first, then you will always have enough.
“The walls we build around us to keep out unhappiness also keep happiness away.” — Jim Rohney
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” — Jim Rohney
An important message in a world where many people don’t care about what enters their bodies. Of equal importance to your mental health is your physical health – and they are often inseparable to a truly quality life. Treat your body like you would the biggest love of your life. Feed it with nutrients that will make you feel alive, giving you more energy to live the life you deserve to live.
“Some people plant in the spring and leave in the summer. If you signed up for a season, check it out. You don’t have to stay forever, but at least stay until you see it. — Jim Rohney
If you’ve signed up for a better life… check this out. If you’ve signed up for a successful business… check it out… don’t give up before your success season kicks in.
If you’ve signed up for a healthy and strong body… check this out… It takes more than one season to build a great life… Whatever phase you’re going through… check it out.
“Character is a quality that embodies a number of important traits such as integrity, courage, perseverance, confidence and wisdom. Unlike your fingerprints, which you are born with and cannot change, character is something that you put into your life.” create within and must take responsibility for changing it.” — Jim Rohney
